چکیده

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisistemic autoimmune disease. 1 There are studies where the increase in thickness of intimate/media average carotid (IMT) valued, most have shown 2 . Cardiovascular disease one leading causes morbidity, especially due to its precocity, which occurs women during fertile potential, associated with higher prevalence cardiovascular (CVD), accelerated atherosclerosis 3,4,5 Patients rheumatic diseases an increased risk systemic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction, promotes 2. Values below 0.9mm IMT considered normal. Objectives: Evaluate patients erythematosus. Methods: Prospective, Observational, cross-sectional study. Carotid Doppler was performed on outpatient clinic diagnosis SLE from November 2019 2020 rheumatology service Hospital Docente Padre Billini healthy controls. Inclusion criteria: > 18 years old, ACR 2007 classification criteria, Doppler, measurement IMT. Controls without disease, matched by sex age. The data analyzed SPSS V23. Results: 116 SLE. 95 met inclusion criteria;95 controls were included. 97.8% female. Average 6.23 years. 71. 57% (68) use glucocorticoids, antimalarials 70.52% (67), 38.94% (37) mofetil mycophenolate, 20% (19) methotrexate, 11. (11) rituximab, 5.26% (5) azathioprine, 1.05% (1) cyclosporine, cyclophosphamide 0.86% tacrolimus. Dyslipidemia (63.1%) (73), obesity 34.7% (33), high blood pressure 23.1% (22), diabetes 3.44% (4), smokers 0% (0). doppler showed 17.89% (17) atheromatous plates, 29.4% calcified 36.84% (7) plates. activity rate using SLEDAI 68.96% (80) activity, 13.79% (16) low, 11.20% (13) moderate, 6.03% activity. 78% (75) had mean (SD) 2.15mm (0.99). About control 71.57% IMT, 1.27mm (1.07) (p-0.046). Conclusion: Our study found that increase. ratio vast majority our low Alterations glucocorticoid use. no significant difference intima-media index respect group. We suggest realization despite being for evaluation monitoring risk. References: [1]Hernández Muñiz, Y, Guibert Toledano, Z. Reyes Llerena, G., 2015. The Assosiation of Carotid Intima-Media Thickness and Ankle Brachial Index with SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients

Objective: The risk of cardiac death in diabetic patients is 3 times more than non-diabetics. But it is not determined who need cardiac screening. About 41% of diabetic patients with silent ischemia are missed. the carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and ankel brachial index are two independent, simple and non invasive method in vascular complications diagnosis in diabetic patients. The aim of ...

Rare Variants in NOD1 Associated with Carotid Bifurcation Intima-Media Thickness in Dominican Republic Families

Cardiovascular disorders including ischemic stroke (IS) and myocardial infarction (MI) are heritable; however, few replicated loci have been identified. One strategy to identify loci influencing these complex disorders is to study subclinical phenotypes, such as carotid bifurcation intima-media thickness (bIMT). We have previously shown bIMT to be heritable and found evidence for linkage and as...

the relationship between atherosclerosis and the intima media thickness of carotid arteries with serum c-reactive protein levels in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus

background patients with systemic lupus erythematous (sle) are more prone to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases due to atherosclerosis and consequently death. objectives the aim of this study was to explore a possible relationship between the intima media thickness (imt) of carotid arteries and the levels of c-reactive protein (crp) in sle patients. patients and methods: sixty sle pati...

Small artery elasticity is decreased in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus without increased intima media thickness

INTRODUCTION The objectives of this study were to determine small arterial elasticity (SAE) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to investigate its relationship with intima media thickness (IMT), accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), endothelial activation and inflammation. METHODS Thirty SLE patients with inactive disease and 30 age- and sex-matched healthy controls we...

Evaluation of the relationship between hepatic and cardiac iron overload with MRI T2* and carotid intima media thickness with Doppler ultrasound in beta thalassemia major patients

Background: Iron overload is caused early progression of atherosclerosis in beta thalassemia patients due to regular repeated blood transfusion. MRI T2* is a gold standard non-invasive method for detecting hepatic and cardiac iron overload. The aim of this study was the comparison of carotid intima media thickness (CIMT) in the patients and healthy control groups with Doppler ultrasound for ear...
